    Bay Audio Visual has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our passionate team as a Senior Audio Technician. Bay Audio Visual designs technical solutions with state of the art equipment to enable the production of events primarily at Trustpower Baypark Arena, and also in and around the Bay of Plenty region.

    • Oversee the operation of the Audio department
    • Experience in design, setting up and operation of line-array systems

    • Pack-in, operation and pack-out Audio equipment for events
    • Preparation, maintenance and storage of Audio equipment

    To be successful in this role you will need:

    • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role
    • A high level of technical competency and experience in Event Audio
    • General experience in Rigging, Audio Visual and Lighting would be desirable
    • A high level of self-drive, self-management and attention to detail
    • A current driver's license. Class 2 licence desirable
    • EWP and Working at Heights tickets would be desirable

    VenueTech seeks a friendly and capable production technician to join our team for 2023.

    This is a diverse role that centres around Venue Technician duties in support of hirers of Whakatu Nelson’s Theatre Royal and Centre of Musical Arts. Includes involvement with regional festivals and stand-alone events.

    Core duties encompass:

    • Providing professional hands-on technical support utilising venue sound, lighting, av, and rigging systems.
    • Custodian-type tasks, including providing hirers access, briefings and general production/venue support/supervision.
    • Maintenance and upkeep of technical facilities and equipment.
    • Pre-production administration to assist with broader planning.

    Our ideal candidate understands all event technical disciplines and has previous experience in a similar role.

    Ideal strengths that would complement our existing team include the following:

    • Theatrical lighting systems
    • Lighting operation for theatre and live music
    • Operation of and rigging to counter-balance fly-towers
    • Production/stage management workflows.

    We work alongside various venue hirers and performance styles that encompass community productions and touring professionals.

    Practical industry-centric hard skills are as crucial as a handle on best/safe practices, clear communication and leadership soft skills.

    While we would love to attract someone with a foundation of industry experience, we acknowledge the skills shortage in our sector, so we are prepared to offer training for the right candidate.

    Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
    Starting rate between $24-28/hr (depending on the applicant’s skill/experience)
    90-day trial period to assess our suitability to one another.

    Work hours are irregular, scheduled to meet our client’s needs and include long days and shifts on weekends and evenings.

    We are targeting a start date of 7th February 2023, but we can be flexible to accommodate the circumstances of the chosen candidate.

    Job Description:

    By joining our small team, you will make a home at AVP as we treat everyone like family. You will get to meet and work alongside many other event companies in our industry and pick up skills along the way. Many of our events are outside of the Taupo area meaning that you get to experience the beautiful countryside New Zealand has to offer! You could be travelling as far South as Invercargill one week and to Auckland the next. No week is ever the same!

    Essential duties:

    • Preparing equipment/vehicles for jobs
    • Set ups and pack downs
    • Transport vehicles to venues
    • Unloading vehicles
    • Test tagging cables and equipment
    • Equipment and workshop maintenance
    • Assist technical for events
    • Ensuring vehicles are clean and presentable

    Play an essential part in the delivery of Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki | Auckland Arts Festival 2023!

    Each year, the Festival has a wide range of crewing requirements across all of our venues from late February to the end of March.     The Organisation:

    Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust (MCTT) owns and operates the ASB Theatre Marlborough and operates the Marlborough Events Centre in Blenheim. Along with hosting a diverse range of events such as theatre productions, conferences, functions, workshops, wine tastings, graduations, and more, the Trust also services the AV requirements of major offsite and outdoor events.

    The Role:

    This role actively supports and contributes to the technical delivery of events, activities and systems at any of the MCTT venues and offsite events throughout any phase of the event process. This includes the appropriate selection, installation, operation and removal of audio, lighting, AV, rigging and network equipment based on event and venue requirements. This role also contributes to the ongoing equipment maintenance and compliance program to ensure optimum presentation and efficiency.

    Tasks are undertaken on a rostered basis and the hours of work are influenced by event requirements.

    Skills required:

    The successful applicant should be passionate about the entertainment industry and have:

    • A minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Work with the events team with the forward planning for clients’ technical requirements and upcoming events
    • Select, prepare and install technical equipment prior to events to meet client requirements. This includes lighting, audio, AV, rigging and data network equipment
    • Ensure technical solutions are providing and delivering the desired outcomes during events, including managing and operating the production and venue systems
    • Lead any rigging requirements for productions and be able to use the in-house fly system appropriate and safely. Train staff on the correct use of the counter weight system.
    • Prepare event rostering, team itinerary, incident reporting and H&S documentations, when required
    • Adherence to Health and Safety and compliance practices to ensure no damage occurs to venues, assets or people
    • Troubleshoot and/or report needed maintenance, repairs, and improvements to theatre management to ensure that the theatre is maintained in an orderly, clean, and safe condition
    • Assist in general theatre maintenance
    • Working at heights and EWP certification would be an advantage
    • A full drivers licence (Class 2 is an advantage)

We have locations throughout the country and the work is varied and expansive.

    • Events and entertainment industry experiance is preferable but not necessary

    • Experience with scissor lifts, boom lifts & forklifts although training will be provided
