October UPDATE – NZ Events Sector Voluntary COVID Code

As you all know, the Event Sector Voluntary COVID Code was developed earlier this year together with other event sector associations, and the support of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. It outlines what event organisers should consider to safely hold events in a COVID-19 environment and follows Ministry of Health best practice guidance on reducing COVID-19 related risks.

The Event Sector Voluntary Code provides guidance to all aspects of the event sector – whether organisers, promoters, suppliers, venues, or Governing bodies – to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission at events, and to support the Ministry of Health to contact trace if an outbreak of COVID-19 were to occur. The Event Sector Voluntary Code does not alter existing legal obligations, is not legally binding, and is intended to support existing systems and processes that the event sector already has in place.

This Event Sector Voluntary Code has recently been updated. You can view the latest version below, or on the NZ Major Events’ page, which includes a section specific to the Event Sector Voluntary Code. There is also some downloadable collateral available on their page which you can use to:

  • Show that your organisation is committed to the Event Sector Voluntary Code; and
  • Educate attendees on what behaviours they are encouraged to follow.

We recommend the continual use of these resources, and consideration of the Event Sector Voluntary Code, until New Zealand is no longer in the Alert Level system.

As always, you can visit our ETNZ COVID Resources web page for links to this information and more.

Take care and stay safe everyone.
