The following document is a summary of Entertainment Technology New Zealand’s third survey conducted between 26th April and 3rd May 2020. The purpose of this survey was to gauge the effects of the lockdown on our members and the industry, and how they felt things would change as we move back into a less restrictive environment.
Like our first two surveys, the representation of two thirds being individual respondents and one third identifying as a business was consistent. The surveys have reinforced how diverse our sector is: servicing the development of works in the creative industries though the development of New Zealand theatre, dance, and music; through to servicing the events industry through the supply of equipment and services to facilitate corporate events and trade shows; though to servicing the film industry.
Broadly, the survey looked at the following areas of interest:
- The Effect of the restrictions on the ability to work, whether it is safe, and percentage of income lost.
- Awareness of grants through CNZ and the application rate.
- Whether respondents are looking at diversifying their income and, if they are looking outside the industry, whether they would return to the industry when it becomes viable.
- Lastly on how they felt ETNZ was doing in regards to communication, support, and advocacy.
