Whanganui Venues & Events is looking for an experienced and
passionate Senior Venues & Events Technician to help bring some of
the region's most exciting events to life.
From touring theatre productions and live music performances, to
conventions, civic events and community celebrations, no two days are
the same.
This is a hands-on, highly varied role for someone who thrives in live
event environments and enjoys the challenge of turning ambitious
ideas into memorable experiences and working as part of a team to
deliver exceptional event experiences.
About the role
As our Senior Venues & Events Technician, you'll be a key member of
the technical team responsible for delivering professional production
services across a range of Whanganui venues.
You'll:
Deliver live audio, lighting, vision and AV services for a diverse
programme of events
Work directly with artists, promoters, event organisers and
touring productions
Lead and support casual crew, volunteers and junior technicians
Provide technical advice and production solutions to clients
Maintain and improve technical systems, equipment and venue
infrastructure
Act as a venue technician during performances and events,
ensuring safe and seamless operations
Help shape the future of our technical services through
innovation, training and continuous improvement
About you
You'll bring a strong technical background and a passion for live
events. You're equally comfortable operating a mixing console,
troubleshooting a technical issue minutes before doors open, or
supporting a touring crew to achieve their creative vision.
You'll have:
At least five years' experience in live events, theatre,
audiovisual production or entertainment technology
Advanced skills in professional audio, lighting and AV systems
Strong problem-solving abilities and confidence working under
pressure
Excellent communication and customer service skills
A commitment to safe working practices and industry best
practice
A collaborative approach and a willingness to mentor others
Experience in theatres, performing arts venues, conference centres or
multi-purpose event venues will be highly regarded.
