Aim
To provide information and skills enabling personnel engaged as set painters in
the entertainment industry to expand their set painting skills and knowledge.
Prerequisites
Certificate of competency in basic set painting practices.
Scope of training
1. A series of 2-day intensive theory and practical courses which expands and
enhances the set painters knowledge of painting materials, skills and concepts
of scenic art, including:
• Scenic Art techniques;
o Show floors
o General painting
• Painting of cloths;
o Choosing the appropriate materials and techniques
o Preparation of cloth
o Marking out
o Painting process; applying the materials, techniques
• Specialist Scenic Art techniques, including;
• Marbling
• Concrete
• Brick
2. Operation and use of EWP.
3. On going practical use of the above listed information and skills in the
workplace.
Assessment
1. Record of work experience.
2. Demonstration of practical skills and written assessment.
Outcome
An industry recognized certificate of competency as a Set Painter.
Duration
12-24 months, depending on nature and level of work experience
