Flying & Rigging Course

Use of Theatre Flying Systems (2 day course)

This course will cover the following topics:


Theory;

Relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice, Best Practice Guidelines

Health and Safety

Risk Identification, Management and Control

Basic Principles of Lifting

Applied Loads, static and dynamic

Breaking Load, Safe Working Load and Safety factor

System Components

Interpretation of Data Sheets/Load Charts

Theatrical flying systems

Maintenance issues and fault finding

Management of flying operations during set-up and show mode

Design and paperwork required for the hanging plot

Interpretation of the hanging plot

Practical:

Tying of knots

Operation of hand-line systems

Basic operation of a counterweight flying system

Wire rope terminations

Hanging of various types of loads on a suspension batten

Special rigging situations

Operation of a flying system during shows

Test:

Each participant will be given a written test paper to answer during the second day which will contribute towards the successful completion of the course.

A certificate of attendance will be provided upon successful completion of the course.

This course will be limited to a minimum of 6 to a maximum number of 10 people attending.
