Bubble bath onstage
10th Mar 2009

Ok.... The Director for an upcomming show wants abubble bath onstage with an actress in it, the actress sings then gets out and exits the stage.
So the first problem I'm trying to solve is the make up of the bubbles so that as she exits she doesn't leave a slippery mess on the stage.
Thoughts?

Resisting the urge to say something I might regret is it possible that it is the water which might create a slippery situation, not the bubble product? It might be that most 'bubble' bath products are not that slippery but the water spread about on the stage floor. Maybe a method of drying the feet or wet body areas before leaving the bath area may suffice for the short? journey off stage.

Most bubble products I have looked at comprise mostly of detergent, and that is the problem. In the latest itteration there would no water just lots of foam/bubbles. Looks like the only solution to the slip problem is a floorcloth for that 3 minute scene.

The problem is the getting out, isn't it. Can she stay in the bath while it smoothly glides off stage? Otherwise following the thought in the last post instead of a full floor cloth there could be a long bathmat making a path stretching into the wings - if it's better not seen it could be upstage of the bath.
